Daylight savings is upon us, which means we can ride later and longer into the night. The Road Team will start holding training clinics Tuesday nights at 6 pm. at the Orem Mad Dog Cycles. Sessions will last about an hour and cover skills like drafting, cornering, lead outs, bumping (yes I'm scared too), hand ups and pace lines. If dirt is more your style, hold tight. The Mountain Team will have group rides and Ride Like a Girl for the ladies. This is a great chance to discover local trials and meet new people.

Season Finally

The team had over 30 racers this weekend at the Canyons in Park City. Great course, lots of single track and fun fast descents. 20 of us made it on the podium in our various categories. While we managed to hang on to second place in the team points race. 11 riders placed in the top 3 overall for their respective categories. Even though the ICUP series has come to an end there are number of other exciting races throughout the fall. Thanks for all your hard work this season and a special thanks to our sponsors for helping make all of this possible.

Taming the Tetons

The weather was cooperating, the trail was in good condition and the team had a great showing at the Taming of the Tetons race. The race was held in Jackson, Wyoming and is noted for its beautiful as well as technical trails. We had several podium finishers and held onto the second place in the overall team standings.

Pedalfest

A little rain and mud followed by sun shine, you couldn't have asked for a better day. Deer Valley offers one of the best courses in the series: tight winding single track, fast down hills and a couple of granny gear climbs. Yet another great showing from the Mad Dog Team. Congrats to all of you that raced and thanks to those that came to support.

Sundance

This is one of the most fun well attended races of the series and Saturday was just that. The team made a strong showing scoring a huge number of points. Thanks to everyone, those that raced and just as important those of you that came to support the team. Great race!

Hammerfest

Another great showing at Hammerfest. We had numerous podiums from all categories which helped us hold on to second place in the team point competition. A big thanks to all of you that helped with lunch, nice reward after a hot dusty day of racing. Congrats Team!

5 Miles of Mud

The conditions were not optimal, until about a hour after the event, but we raced anyway on a very short course and fought through the mud pits to complete our laps. There were an abnormal amount on flats on such a short course, but generally it was pretty fun, despite the inordinate amount of clean up time required post-race. We have a strong second place position in the team points. Thanks to all of the racers and support.

Despite a rough start, at least getting there, the day turned out great. The Mad Dog Team turned in some impressive lap times and moved us into second place in the overall team standing. A big thanks to our new riders, they are really pulling us along.

Desert Rampage

Overall it was a great day of riding. The course was fun and in good condition. The weather, about perfect for racing. The Mad Dog Team showed up in force and had a great time. While some ended up with results that were not quite as we hoped, it was nice just to be out riding and racing again. After the first race we are in second place with team points.

As another season draws to a close we would like to thank all of those that have helped us throughout the year. Without the support from each other, our friends and families and especially our sponsors none of this would have been possible. That being said, there are races throughout the winter, new riders to recruit and potential sponsors to be pursued. If you’re interested in racing with us or know someone that might be, let us know. Likewise, if you’re interested in associating your product with the team, feel free to contact us about a potential sponsorship. As events for the upcoming season are finalized they will posted on the site, along with any other nonsense we feel like sharing. If you have any comments or suggestions, they are always welcome.

Race For Everyone

The 2nd Annual Race For Everyone was a success. The team organizes this event to raise money for Kids On The Move, a local charity. We had a great showing this year and introduced a few new people to mountain bike racing.

About Us

The Mad Dog Cycles Race team was organized in 2002 to create a opportunity for local riders to ride together and support one another in their racing. The team quickly turned into a tight community of riders who not only race, but now engage in other community activities such as trail maintenance days and free guided rides for the community.

The Team won the points competition in the Intermountain Cup Race Series for 3 consecutive years ('02-'04). Although still one of the top three teams in the circuit, our group has limited it's elite rider slots and is now encouraging rookie and support riders to join the team and experience racing. The team also spends time on our community events.

For the last two years we have organized and promoted the 'Race for Everyone'. Which focuses on the local community and encourage families and kids to experience mountain bike racing. All proceeds benefit Kids on the Move, an educational and developmental facility for low income children 0-3 years old who have developmental disabilities.

Additionally many of our riders train for and race in various endurance events during the season, including: 24 Hours of Moab, 24 Hours of Old Pueblo, 12 Hours of Temecula, Leadville Trail 100, Iron Horse Classic, LOTOJA and others.

The team is growing in experience and influence each year and this year has also been invited to put three of it's riders on the regional Subaru Gary Fisher team.

Whether racing, training or working on the trails the team is more than just a group of mountain bike racers, but a microcosm of what a community can be. We encourage, coach, motivate one another to be our best and to serve others. You are invited to join us.
